The story of Crump & Kwash began with Paul and Justin’s collaboration at a Baltimore architectural precast company. Justin’s background as a Maryland licensed contractor and Paul’s sculpting skills from the Maryland Institute College of Art laid the foundation for a partnership that blended industrial functionality with natural artistry. This fusion of talents led them to experiment with unique materials, eventually discovering the potential of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). Their research and development efforts culminated in the formation of Crump & Kwash in 2011.

The brand’s philosophy is deeply rooted in American design, embracing a sense of play and exploration that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. They are part of a community of passionate artists who design products, forge their own path to fabrication, and build an audience through social media.

Crump & Kwash’s portfolio primarily features wood furniture, but they also incorporate leather and metal into their designs. In early 2020, Crump & Kwash opened their first gallery, showcasing a revolving collection of their line, custom one-offs, and work from other designers they admire. They have plans to release a new contract seating collection and a second line of high-end case goods later in the year.
