In 1923, Herman Miller, a West Michigan businessman took over the Michigan Star Furniture Company along with his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree, and Herman Miller Inc. was born. They have since partnered up with legendary designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson creating some of the most iconic furniture in the history of industrial design.

Herman Miller became synonymous with “Modern Furniture” by the middle of the 20th century and is now considered of the most innovative brands of contemporary interior furnishings.
