The Plywood Group, often called a “Timeless Classic,” is a collection of chairs and coffee tables crafted from three-dimensional molded plywood, designed to conform naturally to the human body.

In the 1940s, Charles and Ray Eames pioneered wood-molding techniques to create ergonomic plywood shells. Initially developed for wartime use in splints, stretchers, and glider shells, their innovations later inspired furniture designs that prioritized both comfort and affordability. The Plywood Group emerged from this work, offering sculpted forms that eliminated the need for upholstery. Celebrated for its modern aesthetic and versatility, the collection gained global acclaim, with Time Magazine naming it the “Design of the Century” in 2001.
