The open living space at the entrance is the highlight of the VOM House. It appears as an external courtyard with its large concrete arch, an abundance of light entering through a patterned steel mesh, and pockets of greenery throughout the space. The walls are rendered using rough cement while the arch has a concrete surface with woven bamboo texture to receives light softly.

At the end of the space, the white walls of the internal spaces create a beautiful contrast with the rather dark textures of the courtyard. A further glimpse into the internal space is provided through the open voids of the central ventilation box. This visual integration not only creates a well-needed contrast but also introduces a delicate touch of timber to the space through the upper bridge, internal finishes, and loose furniture.

The concrete arch is also present in the study area on the upper floor with the same bamboo textured finish. The ambiance however is much brighter than the living space thanks to white walls, flooring, and the open staircase. The openness of the space is further enhanced through the vertical voids and wall-to-wall windows at the back of the room. With this palette, timber has been introduced in the form of railings, fixed furniture, and connecting bridge to provide a warm touch to the study room.
