The tale of Omar Khan’s rugs is one of traditional arts and craftsmanship meeting the realm of modern high-end design. Symbols, motifs, colors, and above all the composition of these pieces not only paint an artistic impression but elevate the space and breathe new life into every element surrounding them.

The rugs are made using a technique called hand-tufting, where hand-held sewing machines are used to project the design onto a blank canvas. Art-silk or Viscose is then artistically applied in the fiber of each piece, making the rugs seem delicately hand-carved to achieve the designer’s signature level of depth and complexity.

Khan takes inspiration from the most conceptual ideas as he believes abstract objects tend to offer more structure to a design or composition. He sees his rugs as characters from the start; he humanizes each one during the design process as if new life is being brought into the world. He then creates the shapes and motifs based on that abstract character; seafoam for Hesperus, metallic for Midas, and deep dark tones for Erebus.

His brand also takes sustainability seriously and has always aligned itself with sustainable craftsmanship that gives his rugs a meaning beyond their visual appeal.

We’ve worked with mills that recycle everything, right down to the water used in the dyeing process, and we try to work with bamboo and other renewable materials rather than synthetic ones. We also believe that it’s socially sustainable to foster and enable artisans to continue practicing their craft.
