Vico Magistretti, born in Milan in 1920, was a leading figure in Italian post-war architecture and design. After earning his architecture degree in 1945, he joined his father’s firm and contributed to significant reconstruction projects. He co-founded the MSA (Movement for Architectural Studies) and played a key role in the Milan Triennial Exhibitions, earning several prestigious awards. Notable works include the Torre al Parco and the Corso Europa office building.

Magistretti’s design genius extended to furniture and lighting, winning multiple Compasso d’Oro awards for iconic creations like the Artemide Eclisse lamp and Oluce Atollo lamp. He collaborated with top brands such as De Padova and Kartell. A member of the San Luca Academy and a visiting professor at London’s Royal College of Art, Magistretti passed away in Milan on September 19, 2006.
