Concrete Pendant Lights //
Our Top 6 picks

Concrete is perhaps the material that is associated with the act of construction the most, and much less so with design itself. This however hasn’t made designers shy away from using concrete in product and furniture design. One of the fields that many designers have used the raw texture of concrete as a tool to express themselves is through creating beautiful concrete lamps; sculpture-like objects that serve as a statement even when the lamps are off.

We have selected 6 outstanding concrete pendants that have a lot to say; have a look!

1- Aplomb Pendant // Aplomb Large // Aplomb Mini

Perhaps one of the most well-knows concrete designs for a pendant light which comes in 3 different sizes. It’s designed by Foscarini, and looks extremely well made and sleek. We chose this as our first top pick for its signature outlook; the concrete shell seems to be directing the light downwards and is topped off with a black steel band creating that perfect contrast between the two. The large pendant has a larger base for the LED lights which can create a smoother ambiance compared to the direct lights of the other 2 designs.

2- Split Concrete Pendant Lamp

Our second pick is one we found on Etsy. There are several designs of a concrete pendant light, but this one stood out because of the unusual shape and very clean finish it has. The reason behind selecting this light as a top pick was actually do to the cut of the concrete. This cut will create a beautiful light line which will add a lot of depth and detail to your space.

Now I’m not sure how long this product will be available on Etsy, whether it will be sold out or not, but the designer of this lamp, Dror Kaspi has some stunning designs in his shop so I will link his shop for you to check out.

3- [C1]Dark/Nut Pendant light

The uniqueness of this lamp is due to the elegant combination of the natural walnut with the roughness of the concrete texture; and of course German precision. Although it comes in several wood choices, the walnut stands out the most because of its color and texture.

The size and form of the lamp makes it perfect for over a dining table or a desk; and with its minimal design and handmade quality it can fit in almost any type of interior.

4- Concrete Pendant Light by Handre de la Rey for 20 Eight Design

Designed by SA architect’s Handre de la Rey, this light is clearly an architect’s take on how a pendant can be re-imagined. The rough nature and loud personality of this lamp adds a different type or feel to any space. It might not be suitable for a cozy home, but it has the most outstanding character among the top pics featured here. This design became so incredibly well-known that replicas of it started popping up everywhere with a more affordable price.

The concrete body has a tilted cut which creates an unusual geometric form while revealing the inside skin of the lamp. Therefore using a yellow light will appear as if the inside of the concrete shell is golden; the gold alongside the grey of the concrete create a beautiful contrast of warmth and cool.

5- Bang Concrete Ceiling Lamp

This is one of my favorite concrete pendants; a simple cylinder design that fits almost anywhere without interrupting the interior setup. Designed by the Chinese design firm Bentu, Bang is actually a collection of lamps which are different in sizes and lengths while having the same design. Bentu in general has a lot of concrete design products. They believe the thought and design that goes into creating a product is so precious that can transform any material, even the least valuable one like concrete.

Although the lamp is elegant by itself, I think its most appealing while used in numbers. Whether they are apart or tangled, this lamp always has a new story to tell that can be used at any space with all sort of functionality.

6- Sculpt Concrete Pendant

I couldn’t find the designer of these lamps or where they have been initially presented, but I’ve included the Sculpt family as one of our top-pics because of the form and characteristic they have. These pendants are perhaps the ones that feel like home the most; you can have them in the kitchen, a casual dining room, a bedroom, you name it. And I think its because of their smooth nature doubled with the touch of timber at the top of the lamp.

The lamp we picked in this collection from the Sculpt family is the Drop pendant. I think the concrete shell of the lamp and the timber top create a very pleasant geometrical form that is both exciting and familiar. You can however group it with the other members of the Sculpt family, but this one definitely stands out from the rest.
