A small penthouse at Damansara City, Kuala Lumpur, the DC Residensi Loft is a masterful play of color and texture, creating an elegant yet modern space filled with surprises. The canvas is a dark walnut with accents of gold, and the furniture is the contrast. The cream sofa and the leather armchair, the geometric rug, and the collection of round tables are all elements with opposite characteristics, and yet they blend in effortlessly in the overall pattern of color and form portrayed by the designer.

The centerpiece, however, is the large honed silver marble wall of the living room. Mounted beside a full-height display cabinet, the marble reflects the colors of the rug and grabs the attention with its detail and texture.

The contrast of form and color continues into the bedrooms but is slightly toned down to meet the functionality of the space. The bedding, rugs, and furniture are now in tones of silver, and the accent gold is a desaturated version of the living room’s tones.

The walk-in-wardrobe follows the grid proportions of the displays around the loft but adds details such as fine surfaces and golden bars, specifically catered for the residence.

The workspace is perhaps the simplest room in the penthouse. With a basic work table, a desaturated golden sofa, a chair, and a floor lamp, the workroom offers even less contrast compared to the rest of the loft. The walls are textured with different tones of grey which leaves the rug as the only element with strong colors within the space.
