Kim’s work takes inspiration from life. From people, architecture, and nature, to music, arts, emotions, sexuality, and even memories, have been sources of inspiration for her paintings. She also finds Barcelona to be a perfect city for her talents, one which has helped her creativity reach new heights.

Her paintings are water-based acrylics on cotton canvas and are made to order. They come in a standard size of 116cm by 89cm. Although she has had her signature color palette during her time in Cape Town, she has experimented with new combinations inspired by her new location, Barcelona.

My work combines traditional graphic design techniques with contemporary graphics, typography, illustration and styling. I’m also a full time painter and illustrator, creating pieces for private and commercial use.

Color plays a huge role in Kim’s work and with her background in graphic design, she has the ability to find the perfect color palette for a particular space. The playfulness of colors is strongly present in her collection of prints. They are each narrating a story by only using shades and shadows.

Colour is very important to me. I am always looking for new colour palettes and combinations of contrasting colours. I take hundreds of photos every week of unique and sometimes terrible colours that I find while walking around the city.  Sometimes a single colour can inspire a new piece.
